The Bank of Bermuda required a kiosk solution, to be used at the airports of Bermuda, to collect duty tax for citizens of Bermuda to declare and pay duty tax on items purchased abroad.

The Customs Duty Tax Payment Kiosk is a web based, touch screen kiosk application developed using Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 to perform the following tasks:

• Scan a traveler’s passport and collect identity information.
  
  
• Confirm the identity read from the passport.
  
  
• Collect the Bermuda residency status of the traveler.
  
  
• Collect the number of persons being declared on the duty tax claim.
  
  
• Collect the categories of declared items.
  
  
• Collect the value of each item declared and do so for a variety of international currencies.
  
  
• Calculate the tax due according to Bermuda taxation rules.
  
  
• Prompt the taxpayer to swipe an approved type credit or debit card.
  
  
• Obtain charge authorization or denial.
  
  
• Upon a successful authorization, collect the taxpayer’s signature from a signature capture pad.
  
  
• Save all collected and calculated information to a SQL Server database.
  
  
• Generate and print two receipts, one for the taxpayer and one to be turned in to Bermuda Customs.
